The goal of the Mercy & Justice (M&J) Ministry is to reach out to our community and build bridges.  We believe that if we are able to focus on beginning relationships that are authentic, we will have a more long-term and positive impact in our community.  We hope to be incarnational through authentic, deep and viable relationships with our neighbors.

In addition, M&J is currently partnering with other individuals and ministry teams within Christ Covenant Church to promote the values of mercy and justice by engaging in community development and ongoing service projects (e.g., Abundant Harvest food pantry and kitchen ministries, God’s Garden service project with Feed My Starving Children, etc.).

Past Events

Spring 2010: Healthy Family Fun Fair

M&J coordinated a health fair with various family-friendly, fun activities, such as an inflatable bounce house and Wii stations, while providing education and resources through representatives from the health department and various social service agencies.  In addition, several volunteer, health professionals provided free dental, health and wellness screenings, chiropractic adjustments and massages.

September 12, 2009: Back-to-School Event with Jefferson Middle School

M&J coordinated an effort to help fund backpacks and scientific calculators for Jefferson Middle School students in need. Students received supplies and their families were invited to CCC for a special event, with games and snacks, to celebrate the beginning of the school year.

Easter 2009: Luncheon & Easter Egg Hunt

M&J helped with organizing and promoting our annual Easter Luncheon and first ever Easter Egg Hunt!  A number of our neighbors attended and again, the event was the start of some new bridges with our community.

Christmas 2008: Cookie Outreach & Angel Tree

In conjunction with our annual Angel Tree gift program, M&J coordinated a cookie outreach where we assembled and distributed cookie packages to neighbors. Going beyond our church walls and meeting people where they live led to  many first time introductions, meaningful conversations and the start of relationships.
